Jeanne Joseph Dies

Jeanne JosephIt is with deep regret that the family of Mrs. Jeanne Joseph (also known as “Miss Joseph” or “Ma Pierre”) of Good Hope announce her passing on Jan. 2, in Ohio, United States.
Mrs. Joseph was born in Dominica to Melanie and Edward Daniel. She was married to Pierre Joseph of Boetica Dominica, who preceded her in death. She was the mother of nine children: Phillip (Eddy Joseph, who preceded her in death), Bertha Joseph (The first African-Caribbean mayor in The London Borough of Brent), Maria (Charmaine), Doward, Nathalie Jacqueline Joseph (who preceded her in death), Shirley, Mary Hentley (Ohio), Marietta Joseph (St. Croix), Samuel Joseph (Orlando, Florida), Martin Joseph (St. Croix) and Simon Joseph (St. Croix); grandchildren: Phillip Eddy Joseph Jr. (California), Cuthbert Joseph (New York), Marcel Ramlal and Darwin Ramlal (London), Ashel Belardo (St. Croix), Pashel and Rashel Belardo (Florida), Centia Doward (Florida), Babatunde Belardo (St. Croix), Amarija Andrews (serving in the military in Japan), Kimara Hentley (Ohio), Orville Junnie Hentley (serving in the military in Afghanistan), Eve Joseph (North Carolina), Nelissa Joseph and Martin Jr. (St. Croix), and Monique and Moriya; 36 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves to mourn her brothers: Edmund and Joseph Daniel (Domnica), Maria George (St. Thomas), Clementina Lawrence and Ruth Daniel (Domnica), Phillip Daniel (St. Croix); niece, Hildreth Viola Cuffy (Sinclaire) (London); special nephews: Col. Major Eddy Charles (St. Croix) and Joseph Toussaint (St. Thomas); and many other nieces and nephews too many to mention.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A mass will commence at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Frederiksted, and proceed at 11 a.m. to Frederiksted Cemetery.
