Police Investigate St. Thomas Shooting Death

Keith Dawson Jr., 22, was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Sub Base, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

It was the 25th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 55th in the territory.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Thomas are seeking suspects in the shooting that occurred before 4 a.m. Sunday in the vicinity of the Metropolis Night Club and Doctor’s Choice Pharmacy.

Witnesses told police that several shots were fired between two individuals. Dawson was not one of the shooters, witnesses said, but was struck by gunfire.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to Schneider Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Detectives from the Major Crime Bureau are investigating the case.
