The private, not-for-profit organization that rates hospitals for Medicare participation has awarded the Schneider Regional Medical Center full accreditation, the Gold Seal of Approval, according to Interim Chief Executive Officer Angela Renalls-Atkinson in an announcement Wednesday.
The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standard setting and accrediting body in health care, reviewing almost 17,000 medical institutions in the U.S., according to the press release announcing the award. The commission conducts unannounced surveys to assess compliance with Medicare standards for hospitals and laboratories.
"SRMC is proud to be among those hospitals that achieved and maintained TJC accreditation," Renalls-Atkinson said.
The Joint Commission reviewed all entities of Schneider – the hospital, the Cancer Center, the Myrah Keating Community Health Center and the clinical labs, accrediting and recommending them all for continued participation in Medicare.
