Landale B. Valmond Dies at 91

Landale B. Valmond Landale B. Valmond of 354 Estate Humbug died on Nov. 26, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was born in Atkinson, Dominica, on March 22, 1921. He spent his years serving the Dominica community as a police officer, rising to the rank of assistant superintendent of police. After Hurricane David ravaged the island, he moved to St. Croix with his family. He retired from Hess, where he continued his dedication to public safety as a security guard. He enjoyed spending time with his loving children, and extended family. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Molly Valmond to whom he was married for 66 years; children: Merle Valmond Thomas, Hermine Valmond Wiltshire, Rosmund Valmond Caesar, Joan Valmond Mitchell, Singleton Valmond, Janis Valmond, Royette Valmond Russell, Dexter Valmond, Casandra Valmond Moore, Glenda Valmond Raphael and Kurt Valmond; grandchildren: Robert “Sulé” Richards, Adeyemi Richards, Steve Wiltshire, Peter Wiltshire, Jay Wiltshire, Dunn Wiltshire, Gregg Wiltshire, Kahlil Caesar, Arthur Valmond, Vincent Valmond, Vivien Valmond, Dominique James, Angelique Piper, Samantha Smith, Mayah Russell, Cymone Valmond, Anthony “Chase” Valmond, Tori Moore, Isabella Moore and Danielle Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Osei Richards, Asanté Richards, Akil Richards, Aliya Richards, Pia Nicholson, Christina Wiltshire, Jason Wiltshire, Jahleel Wiltshire, Gregory Wiltshire, Maya Valmond, Nessara Walcott, Amon Walcott, Netalia Piper and Mykal Piper; sons-in-law: Bradford Thomas, Ethelbert Wiltshire, Anthony Mitchell, Honorable Ronald Russell, Clyde Moore and Samuel Raphael; daughters-in-law: Aline Valmond, Calen Valmond and Roberta Valmond; siblings: Ramona, Milne, Inez, Louis, Rima and George; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. His final resting place will be Dominica.
