Mr. SWAG Contest Hosted by Boschulte Middle School

The first ever Mr. SWAG (Students Who Achieve Greatness) competition in the territory for male teen-agers is scheduled for late February on St. Thomas. “In our community the male students are often overlooked when it comes to their talents. We believe that they should be granted numerous opportunities to showcase their special gifts,” said event coordinator David Edole, a Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School math teacher. “The competition will help promote self-confidence and intellectual growth, and transform our boys into productive young men. The focus of Mr. SWAG is to provide a positive path for our male students.”
Male students from 12 to 15 years-old are invited to participate.
Students will be judged in the following categories:
• Overall Presence (Introduction)
• Popularity (based on ticket sales)
• Physical Fitness (A timed event to test a student’s physical capacity)
• Swag With a Twist — Uniform Swag (Creating unbelievable school uniforms)
• Swagmattic Reading (An oral presentation in the form of an essay, rap song, poem, play, musical, etc.)
• Formal Wear
• THE BIG SWAG- "The Interview" (A sit down interview with the host.)
In seeking support from school athletic directors and counselors for Mr. SWAG, Edole said, “I trust that with your cooperation together we can break barriers and build futures for our male students.”
