Man Shot in Thigh In Frederiksted

A man who was closing up a Frederiksted business Saturday night was robbed and shot in the thigh, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police dispatched to a report of a shot fired found the victim, who had suffered at least one nonfatal gunshot wound to his upper left thigh. The incident occurred in the area of the Frederiksted Fish Market.

According to police, the man told officers that at about 10:45 p.m. he was in the process of securing the rear door of Ken’s Bar on Strand Street in Frederiksted when he was approached from behind by an unknown person. The man demanded money and took the victim’s wallet. The victim said the suspect fired two shot and struck him in the leg before fleeing on foot from the scene.
