A masked gunman robbed the Frederiksted Kentucky Fried Chicken on Tuesday evening, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash, the V.I. Police Department reported.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the incident.
According to police, an armed, masked man walked into the restaurant about 9:30 p.m., pointed a gun at the employee and demanded she open the safe and give him the money, and she did so. The suspect also took cash from the cash register and then ran out of the store, police said.
Police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to call detectives at 712-6037 or 712-6077, or at the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers V.I., at 1-800-222-TIPS.
It was the second armed robbery in Frederiksted in as many days. A masked gunman assaulted a woman and ransacked a house in Estate Stoney Ground on Monday.
