Funeral services will be held for Sylvia Agatha Ryan Hyacinth, better known as "Ma Sylvia," who died on Oct. 29. She was 88 years old.
Born March 17,1924, in Dominica, she relocated to St. Thomas where she married and raised her family.
She is survived by her sons: Simon and Anthony Hyacinth, and Jones Celestine; daughters: Irmine Harry, Martina Hyacinth, Joan O’Brian and Rosemary Celestine; brother, Doland Ryan; 15 grandchildren,14 great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at John Thomas Memorial Chapel, 3019 Contant. The second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov.16, at the Holy Family Catholic Church with the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Smith Bay Eastern Cemetery.
Arrangements are by John Thomas Memorial Chapel.
