Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Set for Richard Todd Van Sickle

Richard Todd Van Sickle, 48, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Schneider Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born June 21, 1964, in Uniontown, Penn. Growing up in Pennsylvania, he was an avid Steelers fan. He had a passion for construction and construction management and loved building buildings.
He also had a passion and great talent for cooking and loved creating food that people enjoyed. During the past few years, while living on St. Thomas, he enthusiastically shared his culinary talents and skills with customers and friends at Caribbean Rock and Hangover in Havensight, Guajira Grill in Altona, Sunset Grill at Secret Harbor, Jacks at Point Pleasant, Fat Turtle at Yacht Haven Grande and Cheers Mate at Pavilions and Pools.
Prior to moving to the islands, he called Murray, Kentucky, home where he had raised a family. But his heart was truly in the islands where he loved the beach and living where he could hear the ocean or the sea.
He is survived by his immediate family who include his children: Alexandra and Richard Van Sickle; grandson, Liam Van Sickle; all of Murray, Ky; sister, Melissa Van Sickle Leuice of Pittsburgh, Penn.; parents: Richard and Brenda Van Sickle of Rolesville, N.C.; the St. Thomas Reformed Church family, and many friends and acquaintances.
A gathering is planned for noon at Magens Bay, Sunday, Nov. 4, at and will include a brief memorial service on the beach at 1 p.m. followed by a celebration of life.
