Shop till you drop at Saturday’s Animal Care Center of St. John’s No Fleas Please Flea Market, which runs from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. at the Winston Wells ballfield in Cruz Bay.
“We’ll have a wide variety of items for sale,” ACC member B.J. Harris said.
The sale list includes new and nearly new furniture, kitchenware, tools, sports equipment, decorative items, clothes and art pieces. The flea market also features a children’s table of new and nearly new toys and games as well as books with animal characters for children.
Residents who wish to sell items can rent table space for $30 if they reserve in advance. Harris said last year about 30 people took advantage of the opportunity.
Top Dogs will again feature foods such as hot dogs with gourmet toppings and cold drinks.
Harris said the event raised about $5,000 last year. The money goes to help fund the Animal Care Center’s $130,000 annual budget. It gets $13,000 from the local government to care for abandoned animals.
Harris said about 90 percent of its funding comes from events like the No Fleas Please Flea Market and donations, while about 80 percent of its work falls under its government contract.
