The Escojidos and the Hummers combined for 26 hits in the Escojidos’ 12-8 victory Wednesday night in Bush league action at the D.C. Canegata ballpark.
Both pitchers, winner Hermino Velasquez for the Escojidos and the Hummers’ Paul Christian, found themselves at the mercy of hitters as seven players had at least three hits in the offense-minded slugfest.
It was the Escojidos with 12 runs on 20 hits, while the Hummers finished with eight runs on 16 hits.
Top batters for the winners were Juan Santana (3 for 4 with a homerun and three RBIs), David Samuel (2 for 3 with a homerun and two RBIs), Miguel Rodriguez (4 for 4 with one RBI) and Fernando Quezada (3 for 4 with two RBIs).
For the Hummers, Ovidio Oquino was 3 for 4 with a homerun and two RBIs, Mervin Mills was 3 for 4 with a homerun and three RBIs, Melvin Boston went 3 for 4 with a homerun and one RBI, and Dwayne Thomas was 3 for 4 with one RBI.
The Bush League action continues Friday at 7 p.m. when the Lady Nix takes on Tek It EZ in the first contest, followed by Grey Goose against the Hummers at 9 p.m.
