Preparations for Agriculture and Food Fair Underway

The annual St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 3-4, at the Reichhold Center grounds. The theme this year is “Agriculture: Key to Improving Our Economy.” The cost is $3 for 12 years and older and $1 for younger children. Vendor applications can be picked up from the Department of Agriculture (St. Thomas and St. Croix offices), UVI Cooperative Extension Service, Sea Chest and the Natural Livity Kulcha Shop.
The fair committee is seeking participants and judges for the Best Tasting Sweet bread, Maubi and Ital contests. Call 693-1080 to register as either a participant or a judge and more details will be given. Also, new this year, enter to win a chance to compete in the Coal Pot Lighting contest.
Raffle Tickets are available with prizes including: a 200-gallon water tank, 20 lbs. of local lamb (dressed), 100 lb. bag of 10-10-10 fertilizer, 2 (whole) local chickens (dressed) and one bottle each of local honey and honey pepper sauce. Books of 11 are sold for only $10.
The deadline for submitting AgFair Booklet articles and ad copy is Oct. 19.
