Clifton W. Stevens Dies at 88

Clifton W. Stevens died on Sept. 16 at his residence. He was 88 years old.
He is survived by his sons: Ronan S. Stevens, Neal P. Stevens and Karlwin W. Stevens; daughters: Dr. Jacqueline R. M. Stevens and Debora Y. Stevens-Burns; grandchildren: Christian Burns and Ava-Marie Gordon; sisters: Ilva Stevens, Hattie Stevens, Sonia Stevens Malone, Phyllis Stevens Pickering and Laverne Stevens Reid Clarke; brothers: Allen A. Canton, James Stephens and Fredrick Stevens; daughter-in-law, Margie Stevens; son-in-law, Richard A. Burns; sisters-in-law: Alice Connor Canton, Loricia Stephens, Janice Clause Stevens; brothers-in-law: Walter Malone and Aubrey Pickering; and special nieces: Nauricia Leonard Simmons, Nordelita Charles, Annice Canton and Esther Canton.
He is also survived by special cousins: Leona Vanterpool, Bernard and Elaine Francis, Ruby Amey, Eileen Hendricks, Roslyn Jacobs, Mary Harley, Gaylord Sprauve, Dr. Gilbert Sprauve, Roy Sprauve, Pastor Ralph & Mrs Rosalind Prince, Dr & Mrs. Lawrence Benjamin, Ewart and Gwendolyn Harley, Carla Smith Todman, Joycelyn Harley Peters, Rehalio Jacobs, Aluwyn Jacobs, Alda Jacobs, Avis Jacobs, Raymond Harley, John Harley and Cheryl Harley; special cousins-in-law: Jean Armstrong, and Joseph and Cordella Hector; goddaughter, Carol Smith Powell; special friends:Ms. Mary L. Huggins, Owen and Norma Burke, Mary-Angelica Huggins-Thomas, Arianna E. Thomas, Gloster and Isabel Dublin, AnnMarie Dublin, Clarice Comissiong, and the Harley, Sprauve and Jacobs families; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, at All Saints Cathedral. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 1.
