Neta Garnette Vanterpool died on Aug. 15.
She is predeceased by her son, Santoni “Gamby” Tonge. She is survived by her son, Emanuel “Boyie” Greer; daughters: Sarah “Miss Tudy” Garnette and Josephine “Chichi” Greer; brothers: Ruben and Vernel Garnette; sisters: Sarah Garnette-Hodge, Francis, Louisa, Ophelia and Constania Garnette; grandchildren: K’Monique and Keanu Bonelli, Zohar, Motali, Keshame and Jahlani Greer; special friends: Michael “Joe Mike” Greer and Charles “Pappy” Tonge; special cousins: Winston “Tom Greene” Thomas and Carin Charleswell-Thomas; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Wesley Methodist Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
