Man Fatally Shot in Monbijou

A man was shot to death at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Estate Monbijou, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Sabree Spencer. Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Croix are investigating. It was the 17th homicide on St. Croix since the first of the year, the 31st in the territory.

According to the police, officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a man was assaulted in the vicinity of the bus shanty inside the Monbijou community. Police said Spencer was shot several times.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene did not detect any signs of life on the victim. Crime Bureau detectives and forensics processed the scene for evidence.

The police asked anyone with any knowledge of the case to call 712-6077 or 712-6037, or to call the anonymous tip hotline, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
