A forum on "Tools for Residential and Neighborhood Revitalization" will be held by Downtown Revitalization Inc. (DRI) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, at All Saints Cathedral Parish Hall on Garden Street. The forum is open to the public and is being presented in cooperation with the V.I. Housing Finance Authority and the Economic Enterprise Zone Commission.
Presenters will include Nadine Marchena-Kean, director of the Economic Development Authority’s Enterprise Zone program; Adrienne Williams, executive director of V.I. Housing Finance Authority and T. Stuart Smith, director of the Planning Division of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR).
"DRI is very aware that property owners and residents need to have financial resources to undertake rehabilitation and neighborhood environmental improvements," David Bornn, president of DRI, " and DRI is here to help bring awareness of the tools and financial assistance available to accomplish this critical work."
The goal of the forum is to disseminate information on the various tools available, including tax incentive programs, grants, and financial assistance for revitalization of neighborhoods and affordable residential housing in the downtown area that can be combined to enhance commercial and recreational spaces.
The focus works well with implementing The Town’s Blueprint, that was developed by DPNR with the assistance of the community for Downtown Charlotte Amalie.
"It is imperative that all owners, developers, neighborhood association members and other stakeholders attend this meeting so we can discover how to develop ways to revitalize affordable housing opportunities in the downtown neighborhoods," Bornn said.
