Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver

St. Croix police are looking for the driver of a silver or gray Grand Vitara who was involved in a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.

According to the initial report, at about 7 p.m. Thursday near Estate Strawberry, a 57-year-old male was crossing the street when he was hit by a Grand Vitara. The driver did not stop to assist the victim and left the area.

Witnesses said the male driver was parked on the side of the road for several minutes and appeared to by talking on his cell phone before he pulled out and hit the pedestrian.

The victim was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment of several bruises and abrasions.
