Kahleem Rieara, 33, and Ira Haywood, 31, were arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday on Superior Court warrants in connection with the Feb. 24 shooting death of Shamal Smith in Paul M. Pearson Gardens Housing Community. Two other people were injured by gun shots in that same shooting.
They are charged with two counts of second degree murder, two counts of first degree attempted murder, two counts of first degree assault, two counts of third degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a first degree murder, and reckless endangerment.
Bail for Rieara and Haywood was set at $500,000 each. They were unable to post bail and were remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
