Citizens Call 911 When Heating Vent Stolen

Police on St. Croix arrested Juan T. Felix, age 30, of La Grande Princess, and Eddie Williams, age 38, of Estate Clifton Hill, less than an hour after an industrial metallic heating vent was stolen from an Estate Clifton Hill residence.

According to police, Felix and Williams were seen by concerned citizens taking the heating vent shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. When the two men placed the item in their truck and drove away several residents called 911.

Based on the description given by the witnesses, police issued an all-points bulletin on the vehicle. Minutes later, shortly before 6 p.m., officers stopped the pickup, which was unregistered, on Melvin Evans Highway and arrested both suspects. Felix and Williams were positively identified as the two people who stole the item.

Felix and Williams were charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and failure to register a vehicle. Bail for both suspects was set at $35,000 each. They were remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
