Dirty Dozen Surprises Set It Off; Stealers Cruise

Softball Inc.’s Cody St. Pierre took a pounding but came out on top in, 25-24, slugfest.The Dirty Dozen claimed their second win of the season by surprising Set It Off, 7-5, Tuesday night in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park.

Steve Nisky scattered nine hits and allowed just the five runs in picking up the victory on the mound for the Dirty Dozen, while Julio Carmona got the loss. It was the Dirty Dozen with seven runs on 10 hits and two errors, while Set It Off finished with five runs on nine hits and four errors. Top batters for the winners were Jason Roberts (2 for 3 with two RBIs) and Dave Wentz (2 for 3 with one RBI). Also coming away victorious on Tuesday were Softball Inc., who outslugged the Coolers 25-24 in game two, and the Seaborne Stealers, who cruised to their 11th win in a row by dispatching Anchor Dive, 15-2, in the night cap.

Softball Inc., 25, Coolers 24
Softball Inc. got a much-needed win in game two on Tuesday by edging the Coolers in a slugfest, 25-24. It was Softball Inc. with 25 runs on 18 hits and three errors, while the Coolers finished with 24 runs on 16 hits and three errors. The winning pitcher was Cody St. Pierre and Dexter DeSouza got the loss.

Top batters for the winners were Angel Guzman (3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs) and Fernando Quesada (2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs). For the Coolers, Alberto Medina was 4 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs, and Eric Perez was 5 for 5 with two home Runs and seven RBIs.

Stealers 15, Anchor Dive 2
The Seaborne Stealers played great defense and their ace Samuel Ramos was his usual dominant self on the mound as they cruised past Anchor Dive, 15-2, by way of the 10-run mercy rule in five innings. Edwin Sankitts got the loss for Anchor Dive.

It was the Stealers with 15 runs on 14 hits and three errors, while Anchor Dive finished with two runs on eight hits and two errors. The Stealers offensive onslaught was led by Aaron Howell who was 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs, Eric Flynn was 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs, and Steve Simmonds, Jr. went 3 for 3 with a home run and one RBI.

For Anchor Dive Jose Guerra was 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI, and Rafael Almonte was 2 for 2 with one RBI.
