Police Seek Help Finding Runaway

The V.I. Police Department’s Juvenile Bureau has asked the public for help finding Chaniqua Hewlett, a 14-year-old St. Thomas girl who apparently ran away from home to St. Croix and has been missing since April 4.

According to an alert issued to the media over the weekend, Hewlett told her parents she was going to St. Croix on a school trip, which her parents later found to be untrue.

Police have since received information that Hewlett is still on St. Croix.

She is described as being 5-feet tall, 185 pounds with a brown complexion, brown eyes and a stocky build.

Police ask anyone who has seen Chaniqua Hewlett since April 4, or knows her whereabouts now, to immediately call 911, the St. Croix Juvenile Bureau at 712-6013, 712-6046 or the St. Thomas Juvenile Bureau at 715-5541 or 715-5542.

Police also remind the public that anyone found to be harboring this runaway minor can face criminal prosecution.
