Marilyn Elisa Gaskin Joseph Dies at 68

Marilyn Elisa Gaskin Joseph Marilyn Elisa Gaskin Joseph of La Grande Princesse died on Thursday, March 25, at her residence. She was 68 years old. Joseph was one of the founding teachers of the Moravian School in Christiansted 1972-1992.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Joseph-McIntosh; sons: William, Wayne and Wilbur Joseph; sister, Gloria Gerard; brothers: Lesville James, Vincent, Melvin and Gilbert Gerard; grandchildren: Dean Jr., Je’Neen, Taj, Marice, Wilbur Jr., Ariel, Sherice, Maleek, Joachim, E’lisa and Ajani; and great-grandchildren: De’Ante Walcott, Tamicia Encarnacion and D’Ijah Boyer. She is also survived by great aunt, Olive Fabio; aunt, Eileen Hector; daughters-in-law: Sirdrina Isaac Joseph and Juliette Cassimeer; son-in-law, Thorvald McIntosh Jr.; granddaughter-in-law, Denise Tita Walcott; sisters-in-law: Gloria Joseph, Mary Goodridge, Evelyn Roberts, Myrna Gerard and Alexis Gerard; cousins: Everne Rhymer, Cleone Hector, Dorene James, Ghirton and Elroy Hector, Daryl and Melbourne Williams, Ivorene David, Claudette Williams, Delita Cox, Janet Mingo, Sheryl Brow, Reudell Mingo, Yvonne Petersen Hendricks, Yvette Petersen, Marcia Belton, Denise Rucker, Vertalee Gibbs, Reginald Carroll, Winthropp Hector Jr., Valarie Hector-Stanley, Steven Hector, Alfredo Gaskin, Winifred Lawrence and many more. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren, family friends, co-workers, the Friedensthal Moravian Church family, and the many children whom she had taught and inquired about over the years; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 12, at the Friedensthal Moravian Church. Interment will follow at the Moravian Cemetery.
