The woman found dead last Sunday in front of a house in Estate Contant has been identified by police as 19-year-old Tameka Edwards.
Her body was discovered by a citizen who, upon returning home, had found Edwards lying near the front entryway to the house, according to a Police Department news release.
An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death, according to Police spokeswoman Melody Rames. The case has not yet been classified as a homicide, but that might change once the autopsy results are released, she added.
Major Crimes detectives have said Edwards had a visible wound to the leg and medical personnel indicated she may have been dead more than 24 hours when her body was found.
