A nationally recognized computer certification program will again be offered by the University of the Virgin Islands’ Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center. The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Program is a globally recognized training and certification program that allows individuals to become proficient in the use of information technology. It is recognized in more than 100 countries as the standard for certification of basic computer skills.
The seven-week program will start on Sept. 14, and classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the UVICELL Center on St. Thomas. ICDL focuses on developing basic computer skills in seven key areas: basic concepts of information technology, file management, word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations, communication and information. Candidates who successfully complete all seven modules and pass the certification exam will receive an ICDL certification card, which serves as an achievement of fundamental knowledge in all seven computer skill areas.
