Public Works has gotten two new road striping machines, one for each district, and plans to begin restriping road throughout the territory shortly.
"Each machine is capable of completing several miles of striping on a daily basis," said Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls Monday. Two pieces of equipment called "pre-melters" arrive this week too. They pre-heat the striping material so the striping machines can continue operating with minimal downtime, Smalls said.
Public Works staff is training and nearly ready to begin, Smalls said.
"As soon as the training by the factory representatives is completed, the residents of our territory will soon see the department out in full force striping our roads," he said.
Work should begin in July, he said.
