Marriott Vacation Club Appoints New General Manager at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove

May 28, 2009 – Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI), the vacation ownership division of Marriott International Inc. (NYSE:MAR), has appointed Pieter Knot to general manager at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
Knot is now responsible for the Marriott Vacation Club Resort located on 13 waterfront acres overlooking scenic Pacquereau Bay in St. Thomas. Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove currently boasts 124 two- and three-bedroom villas ranging from 1,172 to 1,572 square feet and will offer a proposed total of 220 villas upon build-out. Each villa features stunning water views and amenities including a fully-equipped kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, spacious living and dining areas, a washer and dryer, multiple flat-panel televisions and DVD players, and two balconies.
With nearly 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Knot began his career with Marriott in 2000 in Aruba where he served as the director of services for both the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club. From there, he quickly progressed to front office manager. Three years later he was appointed to director of services for Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club and Marriott’s Aruba Surf Club, and soon advanced to director of room operations for both properties.
In his most recent role, Knot held the position of general manager at Marriott’s St. Kitts Beach Club in the British West Indies where he successfully opened three phases at the resort, as well as earned the recognition as a “World Class Leader for the Florida-Caribbean Region” by Marriott Vacation Club International.
“We are thrilled to have Pieter as our new general manager at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove,” said Troy Asche, regional vice president of customer experience for the Florida-Caribbean region. “Under Pieter’s leadership and with his extensive experience, we are certain that Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove will continue to be one of the most sought-after destinations for our owners and guests in the Marriott Vacation Club portfolio.”
A native of Aruba, Knot is relocating to St. Thomas with his wife, Dorothea, and two children, Cassandra and Daniel. He holds his bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas, and looks forward to becoming an active member of the St. Thomas community.
