DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF HEALTH INSURANCE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Department of Health hereby provides notice of its intent to add the following benefit as a covered service in its Medical Assistance Program (MAP): inpatient psychiatric services for individuals under age 21.
The Department recognizes that local providers are delivering the needed services, and that these services are being paid for by the Department of Human Services exclusively with local funds. As such, beginning April 1, 2009, and subject to the availability of local and federal funds, the MAP will reimburse qualified facilities in full for the costs they incur to provide inpatient psychiatric facility services to MAP beneficiaries. The Department is determining the full fiscal impact of this change to the MAP but in no event will the reimbursement to the psychiatric facilities exceed the Territorys ability to manage within its federal allotments.
This notice is to comply with the requirements set forth at 42 CFR 447.205 and 1902(a)(13) of the Social Security Act, 42 U.S.C. Section 1396a(a)(13). A copy of this notice is available for public review at the office of the Bureau of Health Insurance and Medical Assistance listed below.
