March 25, 2009 – In celebration of the ninety-second Transfer Day Celebration, We From UpStreet Inc. will host a "Pre Transfer Day Free Public Concert, at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, March 30, at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Virgin Islands Veterans Memorial Park. The event will showcase the Charlotte Amalie High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Francis Callwood, as well as upcoming jazz musicians from area high schools who are making their names known in the V.I. jazz community. Jerry Harris, one of St. Thomas' most popular big band, jazz and pop vocalists, will also perform.
The event will also highlight the sounds of popular pianist Sally Smith and Company, another great jazz musician and vocalist on St. Thomas. Barefoot Davis Band, popular on the eastern end of the island and known for its diverse music style of Caribbean crossover to jazz, pop and country, will also be part of the show.
