Police Still Looking for Mercado

March 19, 2009 — Police are still looking for Hector Luis Mercado, also known as Jesus Rivera Carmona wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies recently committed in various parts of St. Croix. Anyone who sees him is encouraged to call police.
Police say Mercado is armed and dangerous. Mercado is a 28-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He has black hair that is sometimes worn in braids past his shoulders. He has brown eyes and a light complexion. Mercado has a tattoo of a cross and snake or dragon on his right arm and various tattoos on other parts of his body.
He frequents Estate Whim, Estate Profit and JFK housing community.
Anyone who sees Mercado should immediately call emergency 911 from a land line or 772-9111 from a cell phone. Harboring a wanted criminal is a crime, and according to a Police Department statement, anyone harboring or helping Mercado evade capture will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
