Two arrested after St. Croix Robbery

Jan. 29, 2009 — Two suspects trying to get away after allegedly robbing a St. Croix business were arrested by St. Croix police officers Wednesday evening, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
Arrested were Luis A. Rivera, 24 of Estate Whim and 21-year-old Kyone Bazil of Estate Diamond. The pair were charged with robbery in the first degree, assault in the third degree and unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The gun was recovered by police.
It was about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, when police emergency 911 received a
call of a robbery in progress at Junie's Bar and Restaurant in Estate Peters
Rest. Police traveled to the scene and issued an All Points Bulletin for
the vehicle witnesses said was used in the robbery. According to police no
money was taken in the robbery and no one was injured.
The suspects were observed by police driving the vehicle several miles away
and were detained.
A black handgun was confiscated from the vehicle, police said, and the suspects were taken into custody.
Bail for Rivera and Bazil was set at $75,000 each and they were remanded to the custody of the bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
