V.I. RC&D Asks for Help Cleaning Up Nature Trail

Jan. 10, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Resource Conservation & Development Council Inc. (V.I. RC&D) is seeking volunteers to continue restoring the Estate Adventure Nature Trail from the damage inflicted by Hurricane Omar and to build a new bridge across the gut. Volunteers are asked to join together from 7-11:30 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 18, to help mow weeds, repair a damaged wooden bridge along the trail, continue to clear downed trees and debris, and build a new bridge.
All students seeking community service hours such as teachers, hikers, birders, ecologists, researchers and St. Croix nature-lovers who want to help restore and expand the nature trail are welcome. Please bring gloves and wear clothing suitable for working in the bush. Water, snacks and tools will be provided.
The Adventure Trail kiosk is across Queen Mary Highway from the V.I. Ag Fair Grounds in Estate Lower Love, St. Croix.
