Jan. 9, 2009 – Tomasita Torres Rijos, also known as "Tommy," of Eliza's Retreat died on Jan. 8. She was 85 years old.
She is survived by her daughters: Maritza and Lydia Rijos; son, Peter Rijos Jr.; grandchildren: Litza Rodriguez, Peter Rijos II, Nicole Rijos, Monique Rijos, Alexander Rijos, Ivan Cardenales Jr., Robert Alexander Mims and Micah James Mims. She is also survived by brother, Eugene Torres; nephews: Joe, Felix and Edwin Salgado; sister-in-law, Isabelle Rolleri; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Methodista Hispana in Royal Manor. Interment will follow at the Christiansted cemetery.
