Pistarckle Theater Announces 2008-2009 Schedule

Sept. 12, 2008 – Pistarckle Theater has announced their 18th season at their annual Business After Hours party on Sept. 11th.
The new season's shows are:
"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," adapted by Dale Wasserman and directed by Frank Bartolucci. Bartolucci also directed "Equus" and "Wait Until Dark."
A charming rogue contrives to serve a short sentence in a mental institution rather than in prison.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m., on Oct. 30, 31, Nov. 1, 7 and 8; and 2 p.m., on Nov. 8.
"Miracle on 34th Street," written by Valentine Davies and directed by Marc Fellner.
A funny, tender and charming show for the entire family, it is a Christmas classic.
At 7 p.m., on Dec. 11, 12,13, 19, 20 and 21; and at 2 p.m., on Dec. 20, 21.
"Half Married," written by Dr. Eddie Donahue and directed by Marc Fellner, this is the play's world premiere.
A farce starring St. Thomas' taxi drivers.
At 8 p.m., on Jan. 29, 30, 31 and Feb. 6 and 7; and at 2 p.m., on Feb. 7.
"Jesus Christ Superstar," a musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, and directed by Marc Fellner.
A rock opera based on the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m., on March 19, 20, 21, 27, 28, April 3, 4; and at 2 p.m., on March 28, April 4 and 5.
"The Tempest" written by William Shakespeare and directed by Marc Fellner.
A visual feast of magic and theatrical spectacle.
There will be one performance only in 2009 on a date to be announced.
Star Summer Theater Camp 2009
A five-week theater camp that will culminate in a full production. For ages 9-17, the camp will be held from June 8 through July 12, 2009.
Star Leadership Camp 2009 is a performing arts camp concentrating on theater training. It is for kids 9-15 years old and will be held from July 20 through Aug. 14, 2009.
Pistarckle is offering three subscription packages suited to all pocket books, which includes a basic subscription package of four shows for the price of three. It has also added the Dress Circle Package on opening nights, which allows members to enter the theater early, enjoy champagne and a pre-show talk with the director, reserved seats and a free, single ticket to any of the performances, save money and make a small tax deductable donation to the theater.
Marc Fellen, the theater's resident director, will be directing four of this season's shows. He might be remembered as the director of two versions of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," a female version, in 2004, and a male version, in 2008. A graduate of UCLA, Fellen has been directing and acting professionally for the last 10 years. He will hold auditions at 5 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 13, for the following plays: "Half Married," "Miracle on 34th Street' and for two small parts in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
Megan Howey replaces Bethany Burgess-Smith as education director. She comes to Pistarckle from Colorado with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, graduating magna cum laude. Most recently, she stage-managed the Okoboji Summer Theatre in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Megan offers the following classes at Pistarckle Theater:
The Art of Pantomime: Bethany Burgess-Smith will be returning to Pistarckle Theater for the temporary engagement of instructing our fall class, "The Art of Pantomime." The class will focus on training in improvisation and using the classic art of pantomime to provide students with ownership of classic stories. With close ties to Commedia dell' Arte, pantomime uses stock characters to tell a well-known story with a new twist. Students will work to discover how seemingly unrelated fairy tales connect to their everyday lives.
Classes will be held 3:30-5:30 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 7 through Nov. 20. There will be no class held on Oct. 28 or 30. The cost is $120.
Sing Like a Diva: vocal coach Dietra Davis will be offering private vocal lessons at Pistarckle Theater. Lessons are in half-hour increments, 3.30-5.30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays. Registration is ongoing and the cost is $30 per half hour.
