Muckle School Literacy Academy to Be Held on Saturdays

Jan. 17, 2008 – Lew Muckle Elementary School will hold the first in a series of Saturday Literacy Academies for families from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Jan. 26, in the school cafeteria. The classes are free and will assist parents and guardians with developing strategies to help improve their child's reading skills, according to a press release from Principal Elizabeth Hoover.
Academy activities will include: five important areas in reading, creating reading/writing games, journal writing and preparation for the upcoming IOWA standardized tests.
Other Saturday Academies are scheduled for Feb. 2, Feb. 23 and March 1. Students must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.
