Against All Odds Top the Angels 12-8

Aug. 27, 2007 — Lynn Liburd's inside-the-park home run at the top of the seventh Monday evening started a four-run inning for Against All Odds, who beat the Angels 12-8 as Daniel O. Senthill modified-pitch softball league play continued on St. Thomas.
The Angels jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and, behind starting pitcher Gail Joseph, held Against All Odds scoreless for the first three innings. Scoring four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, Against All Odds rallied to take an 8-2 lead. The Angels, showing that they still had some life in their wings, tied the game by scoring two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth.
After Liburd's home run in the seventh, teammates Jill Chinnery, Sherry Romney and Syreeta Jennings also scored in the inning, giving Against All Odds the 12-8 lead. Jennings, the team's pitcher, shut down the Angels in their half of the seventh, sealing the victory.
Liburd was the top hitter for Against All Odds, going 3 for 4. For the Angels, Joseph and Jennifer Jeffers both went 2 for 3.
