Brief: St. Croix Man Who Died in Car Fire ID'd

Aug. 15, 2007 — The charred remains of a previously unidentified individual found last month has been identified as Francis Augustus of Estate Castle Coakley, Police spokeswoman Monyka Johnigan said Tuesday.
Augustus' body was found inside his vehicle, which was still burning when the incident was reported to the police by a concerned citizen (See "Unidentified Body Found in Burned Vehicle Near Halfpenny Bay".
A medical examiner's report indicates that Augustus died as a result of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, Johnigan said.
Residents with information on these, or any other incidents, are urged to call the confidential police hotline at 715-5522 or emergency 911.
