June 19, 2007 – Police have identified the victim of a shooting that took place June 15 in the Mariendahl area of Brookman Road as 48-year-old Laurel Jeffers.
Jeffers, a Nevis native, died from injuries sustained in the shooting. (See "One Dead After Three Unrelated Violent Incidents, Police Say"
Jeffers was shot around 12:55 p.m. After hearing the shots, a concerned citizen tried to take Jeffers to the hospital. While en route, however, the vehicle transporting the victim was involved in a car accident near Al Cohens Plaza.
"The shooting victim was subsequently taken by ambulance to the Roy L. Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he expired from what appears to be a single gunshot wound," a release from the V.I. Police Department sent at the time of the incident said.
