Dear Source:
Once again St. Croix is left out of reduced airfares to the mainland (Florida) offered by American Airlines. Why should St. Thomas always be the island to have these specials?
Think of how reduced airfares would help St. Croix…yes our number of hotel rooms is limited, but summer time is when families travel. Many of my Florida relatives would love to come visit us at our home in St. Croix. They may not stay in hotels, but they certainly shop, eat out in restaurants, and participate in island activities all of which generate income for St. Croix. On the flip side, Cruicians would like to be able to visit the mainland this summer. Fares are so high that many families cannot afford to travel. Please get us some airline competition in St. Croix, so American Airlines won't have a strangle hold on the Big Island. Airfares in St. Thomas have dropped because American Airlines has to compete with Spirit Airlines. Why should it cost Crucians $161 to fly 40 miles from STX to STT when St. Thomians pay $125 to fly to Florida? It doesn't make sense and it is not fair.
St. Croix needs reduced airfares!
