Dear Source:
I would like to encourage Mark Simkiss to move here. Mark, I had a horrible experience in Jamaica in the summer of 1972 and almost wrote off the entire Caribbean when a woman "guaranteed" I would have a totally different experience in St. Thomas. She was right. I started coming in 1979, loved the islands, bought a condo in 1986, and retired here in 1998. I am now in the process of selling the condo and buying a house here. So, I guess you know I have had a great experience for almost thirty years.
The frustrations of St. Thomas are not that different from the frustrations in the states, and I have lived in many of them. We are very happy with our church, the Cathedral Church of All Saints, finding its congregation of mostly stateside-Blacks and West Indians (we're Caucasians) more welcoming than any church we have ever attended in the states. While we take extended visits to the states, we wouldn't want to live there year-round any more. So, Mark, come on down!
