Margot L. Nichols Dies

June 15, 2007 – Margot L. Nichols died on Saturday, June 9, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Germany and graduated from Heidelberg University. After World War II, she worked for the U.S. State Department leading European industrialists in learning how best to do reconstruction in Europe. Additionally, she was an interpreter at the United Nations in New York City.
She first arrived on St. Croix in 1964 and worked for both Rosa and Belair Watch companies. She was actively involved in the St Croix community; she supported the St. Croix Friends of Denmark and the St. Croix Landmarks Society. She loved to play golf both at Carmabola and the Buccaneer, did water aerobics, loved to swim in the ocean and walk her dog.
She is survived by her four children and their families: John B. Nichols Jr. his wife, Kathy O'Brien and their children: Kaitlin, Elizabeth, Jason, Rebecca, and John; Wayne E. Nichols; Candace A. Nichols and her husband, James Cisek and their son, Edward; Gwen Nichols; special friends: Todd Newman and his wife Kathy; and canine companion Little Fox.
A gathering to celebrate her life will take place from 3-5 p.m., on Friday, June 15, at The Deep End Restaurant at Tamarind Reef.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to: Continuum Care, The St. Croix Landmarks Society, or St. Croix Friends of Denmark.
