Public Safety Could Be a Win-Win Situation

Dear Source:

Public safety should always be a top priority in any community. The fact that it's been reported that St. John doesn't have adequate equipment to manage a fire in a four-story condominium should send up a red flag for this and other projects where proposed buildings exceed the limits of existing equipment and staffing.
In many communities where proposed plans include high-rise buildings and where the local fire fighters don't have the equipment to safely and adequately fight a fire in such a building, the developer has often been required to provide such equipment. It's a win-win situation where the community gets much needed equipment and the developer gets the building. The developer is also encouraged to provide training for the equipment.
