June 6, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 10. This Sunday we will feature music by Miranda Lambert, Mare Winningham, Eva Cassidy, Snooky Pryor, Ray Charles, Grant-Lee Phillips and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" by Miranda Lambert. Miranda is proof that you don't need to win competitions such as Nashville Star or American Idol to be successful in today's music industry. She finished third in the first Nashville Star competition but has gone on to be the most successful of the show's participants. Her music appeals to both fans of mainstream country and those who like the alternative country and Americana sound.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Refuge Rock Sublime" by Mare Winningham. She is best known as an actress, who has been seen in numerous films and television appearances. Winningham also is a fine songwriter and talented musician.
We play new music from Grant-Lee Phillips, Antje Duvekot and more.
We include music from Eva Cassidy, Janis Joplin, the Beatles, James Cotton, Snooky Pryor, Vance Gilbert and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of producer Don Costa, Fats Domino's drummer Clarence Brown, Shirley Alston of the Shirelles, blues legend Howlin Wolf and Judy Garland. We remember Ray Charles on the anniversary of his death.
We give away a copy of a new Celtic music CD from fiddler and vocalist Nuala Kennedy as well as the new release from alternative country artist Gurf Morlix.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
