Brief: Charles Harwood Complex to Remain Closed Through Friday

May 24, 2007 — The Health Department's Charles Harwood Complex will remain closed on Friday while work crews continue repairs on a ruptured underground pipe that knocked out water and air-conditioning systems in the building.
The methadone clinic under the Division of Mental Health, Alcoholism and Substance Abuse will be open throughout the weekend, however, according to a Health Department news release.
"Water has been restored and the repairs to the air-conditioning system should be completed by Friday afternoon," said Acting Health Commissioner Phyllis L. Wallace, according to the news release.
Executive staff, directors and program administrators are expected to report to work on Friday, but all other employees are asked to stay home through the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
"Normal operations will resume on Tuesday," Wallace said.
