Brief: Fourth Annual Beach-to-Beach Power Swim Set for Sunday

May 24, 2007 — The Fourth Annual Friends Beach-to-Beach Power Swim, hosted by the Friends of V.I. National Park, will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
The swim race takes place in protected waters of V.I. National Park on St. John, beginning at Maho Bay Beach, according to a new release from the Friends. Swimmers can choose among three courses:
— Short Course: Maho Bay swimming to Cinnamon Bay (about 1 mile).
— Intermediate Course: Maho Bay swimming to Trunk Bay (about 2 1/4 miles).
— Long Course: Maho Bay swimming to Hawksnest Bay (about 3 1/2 miles).
New this year is the Scotia Bank Team Challenge. The top three times of members from the same team will be combined and the team with the fastest time will win a perpetual trophy and a cash award, the news release said.
