With a BS degree from the Naval Academy in 1948 and an MA in International Affairs from the George Washington University in 1963, my spouse, Anne and I and our five daughters and one son choose St. Croix as our home in 1971. Following my retirement from the U. S. Navy with the rank of Captain, I put my aviation experience (Jet carrier pilot and Navy Test Pilot) to good use as an Antilles Air Boat (AAB) Captain, Chief Pilot and General Manager. After AAB ceased operations I was instrumental in the establishment of V. I. Seaplane Shuttle in March 1982 and resigned in February 1986.
As a flight instructor, I taught twenty one Virgin Islands youths flying, seven or more are now flying as Captains for various carriers. In addition I taught numerous youths the fine art of sailing, three of which became Olympians. Four of our children attended St. Joseph High School with three graduating in the mid to late seventies. Two of our offspring now reside on St. Croix. I mention these facts as indicators that we considers ourselves to be Virgin Islanders, not because of native birth but because we have put our roots down on the lovely island of St. Croix. Having lived on St. Croix (thirty six years) longer than any other place on the planet and attuned to the customs and culture of "Crucian Life", I desire to help shape the future of the Virgin Islands.
I dearly want to see these islands become more self governing. I will bring my eighty one years, wisdom, ability to find the middle ground, respect for one's opinion, and more as a delegate to draft a viable Constitution for the people of the Virgin Islands. I think that with the above qualities and the respect that I have for Virgin Islanders, I will prove worthy of the AKA by which most address me "Captain Nick."
