Monarchs Crush Cardinals, 15-4, in AA Action

May 10, 2007 — After suffering a tough loss to the Yankees Monday night, the Monarchs came out with fire in their eyes Wednesday night, pounding the undermanned Cardinals, 15-4, in Raphael Jackson AA Baseball action.
In fact, this one was over in the second inning after the Monarchs exploded for 11 runs. After that, many of their starters were out of the game to start the third inning.
Batting first, the Monarchs picked up two runs in the top of the inning on an RBI double by Rahsan Foster and a sac fly off the bat of Carmelo Torres to take the early lead.
They exploded for 11 runs in the top of the second to put the game away.
The Cardinals finally got on the board in the bottom of the third after the Monarchs failed to score in the top of the inning. They scored three runs on a plethora of Monarch errors to trail 13-3 at the end of three.
The score would stay that way until the fifth, when the Monarchs picked up an unearned run to now lead 14-3. The Cardinals scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI ground out by Francisco Diaz to now trail 14-4.
The Monarchs added the final run of the game in the top of the sixth for a 15-4 lead. Rene Rosado, The Monarch’s reliever, then struck out the Cardinals in the bottom of the inning to end the game in six innings due to time constraints.
Rosado pitched two innings of relief baseball to come away with the win for the Monarchs, while Irvin Simmons took the loss for the Cardinals. Top hitters for the Monarchs were Foster (2-for-3 with four RBIs), Torres (3-for-5 with three RBIs), and Leon Lang and Rosado, who were both 2-for-3. For the Cardinals, Norbert Pickering was 1-for-1.
