UVI to Host Constitution 2008 Seminar

May 1, 2007 – The University of the Virgin Islands invites the public to a forum of the Constitution 2008 public education program that will focus specifically on the preparation of those residents who are interested in serving as delegates when the territory's fifth Constitutional Convention opens in July. Local presenters will include Dr. Leary, historian Marilyn F. Krigger, Ph.D., former Gov. Charles W. Turnbull and retired Judge Thomas K. Moore.
A highlight of the seminars, which will be conducted on separate days in both districts, will be presentations by representatives from the Center for State Constitutional Studies at Rutgers University. The participation of Director of the Center G. Alan Tarr, distinguished professor, and Associate Director Robert Williams, has been confirmed.
The seminar in the St. Thomas-St. John District will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5, in the Chase Auditorium, B-110, on UVI's St. Thomas campus. A light lunch will be included for participants.
The public is invited to visit the university's Web site www.itsourfuture.vi for more information on the constitution project and to view the Constitution 2008 program, which airs every Tuesday at 7 p.m., on WTJX Public Television Channel 12.
