Transfer Day Committee Presents 'Jamesie' Brewster Documentary

March 16, 2007 – In observance of USVI-Denmark Friendship Month, the 90th Anniversary Transfer Day Committee presents the documentary: "Jamesie, King of Scratch: A Vibrant Musical Journey to the U.S. Virgin Islands,"at 7 p.m., on Friday evening, March 16, at the Charlotte Amalie High School's Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium. The 70-minute presentation features James "Jamesie" Brewster, an uncompromising musician from the island of St. Croix well known for his humorous, provocative and playful compositions and lively performances.
The documentary, the work of producer Andrea Leland, includes performances by Jamesie and the All-Stars at a St. Croix night club; the VI Agricultural Fair; music festivals in Chicago and Indiana; jamming with his friends; and performing and teaching in Denmark. Interspersed throughout is Jamesie talking with other musicians about the historical significance of the music and explaining how he came to create some of his songs. There is also footage at his home, revealing the more personal side of James Brewster.
