Youth Triathlon to be Held in Frederiksted

March 12, 2007 – Project St. Croix, the not for profit organizers of the St. Croix Ironman and the Caribbean Auto Mart Triathlon series, will host a triathlon for athletes ages 12-16. The race will be held in conjunction with the Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep West is Best Triathlon beginning at 7 a.m., on Sunday, April 1, at Coconuts, just north of Frederiksted.
The youth race will include a 440-yard swim, a flat seven-mile bike and a 1.5-mile run. It is an excellent introduction to the sport, which has gained enormous popularity on St. Croix.
Each young racer must have a bike and helmet, and a parent or guardian must attend to sign the waiver. The entry fee is $10. Entry forms may be downloaded from www.stcroixtriathlon.com and brought to race registration or filled out at GNC in Sunny Isle. Race day registration will be held from 6-6:45 a.m., at the race site.
