Karima Greenaway Selected for Coast Guard Promotion

January 17, 2007- The U.S. Coast Guard has selected Ensign Karima Greenaway for promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade (0-3). Her name is among a list of Coast Guard officers approved by the secretary of homeland security for promotion to the rank.
In 2005, she became the first woman from the Virgin Islands to ever graduate from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She earned her degree in naval architecture and marine engineering and is a graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School.
Currently, Greenaway is assigned as an engineer aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Dauntless in Galveston, Texas. She is the daughter of Judith Dawson and George "Keith" Greenaway.
